a new way to share memories

Kodak, the international leader in digital imaging technologies, developed a concept for the next generation in digital photo frames: wireless internet connectivity, no desktop software needed, and dead-simple management of photo content. Kodak made the picture frame, we developed the software that handles everything else.

project snapshot

We developed an easily extensible synchronization system that supports connectivity with an essentially unlimited number of third-party photo sources. By leveraging cloud computing services like Amazon’s EC2 and SimpleDB, we were able to very quickly deploy a sophisticated systems architecture that has near limitless scalability while controlling costs to match growth in product sales. We also developed the web site that allows users to easily select content from third parties, upload content directly, and manipulate the frame’s settings, avoiding the hassles of desktop software development and maintenance.

our role

Working closely with the Kodak Pulse team, we developed a web services infrastructure with which the frame interacts to determine when new content is available for download.

Popular Mechanics named the Kodak Pulse frame one of their editor’s picks at the 2010 Consumer Electronics Show. The product is available in retail stores and online sites such as Amazon.com, B&H, BuyDig.com and others.
